Get Your AI API Key

GoApus Pro needs an AI brain to work. Pick one of the three providers below — all offer free tiers to get started. This takes about 2 minutes.

Claude API Key

Claude (made by Anthropic) is the most capable and context-aware model. It handles long Instagram captions, nuanced tone, and multi-step replies better than most. Great first choice.

Create a free Anthropic account

Open your browser and go to the Anthropic Console. Click Sign up and create your account with your email address.

Add a payment method

Anthropic requires a credit or debit card to prevent abuse — but they give you $5 free credit on signup which is enough for thousands of AI interactions. Go to Settings → Billing and add your card.

The $5 credit covers roughly 2–5 million tokens. At normal usage you won't exhaust it for weeks.

Open the API Keys page

In the left sidebar click API Keys. You'll see an empty list on your first visit.

Create a new key

Click the Create Key button. Give it a recognizable name like GoApus so you remember what it's for.

Copy your key — save it now!

Your key will appear only once. It looks like this:

Copy it immediately and paste it into GoApus Pro under Settings → AI Provider → API Key.

Never share this key. Treat it like a password. Anyone who has it can charge your Anthropic account.
That's it! Paste the key into GoApus Pro and you're ready to go.

OpenAI API Key

OpenAI's GPT-4o is the model behind ChatGPT. It's fast, widely supported, and excellent at conversational replies. Good choice if you already use ChatGPT.

Go to the OpenAI Platform

This is separate from the ChatGPT website. The API platform is where developers access the AI directly.

Sign up or log in

Use your email address or sign in with Google. If you already have a ChatGPT account, you can use the same credentials.

Add billing credits

OpenAI requires prepaid credits for API access. Go to Settings → Billing and add at least $5 to your account. This is separate from any ChatGPT Plus subscription.

$5 goes a long way — GPT-4o costs about $0.005 per 1000 words. Normal daily usage costs a few cents.

Navigate to API Keys

Click your profile icon in the top-right corner, then select API keys. Or go directly to the API keys page.

Create a new secret key

Click + Create new secret key. Give it a name like GoApus. Leave permissions set to All.

Copy your key — save it now!

Your key will appear only once. It looks like this:

Copy it and paste it into GoApus Pro under Settings → AI Provider → API Key.

Google Gemini API Key

Gemini is Google's AI model. It has the most generous free tier — perfect if you want to try GoApus Pro without adding a credit card at all.

Go to Google AI Studio

AI Studio is the free tool Google provides for accessing Gemini. You only need a regular Google account — no special setup required.

Sign in with your Google account

Click Sign in and use any Gmail or Google Workspace account. Accept the terms of service when prompted.

Click "Get API key"

In the left sidebar, click Get API key. This opens the API key management screen.

Create your API key

Click Create API key. If asked, choose "Create API key in new project" — this automatically sets up a Google Cloud project for you without any extra steps.

Free tier limits: 15 requests per minute, 1,500 requests per day. This is plenty for personal Instagram use.

Copy your key

Your key appears on screen. Unlike the other providers, Google lets you view it again later — but still treat it like a password. It looks like this:

Copy it and paste it into GoApus Pro under Settings → AI Provider → API Key. Make sure to also select Gemini as the provider.

Keep this key private. Even on the free plan, someone with your key can consume your daily quota.
All set! Paste the key into GoApus Pro, select Gemini as the provider, and you're live.

Common questions

Which provider should I choose?
If you want the best quality with minimal hassle, choose Claude. If you don't want to add a credit card yet, choose Gemini — it's completely free to start. If you're already using ChatGPT Plus, OpenAI is familiar territory.
Will I be charged automatically?
Claude: You add credit manually. Nothing is charged automatically until you set up auto-recharge (off by default).
OpenAI: You buy credits manually. Auto-recharge is also off by default.
Gemini: The free tier never charges you. If you upgrade to a paid plan you control that separately.
Can I switch providers later?
Yes. In GoApus Pro go to Settings → AI Provider, pick a different provider, and paste the new key. The switch takes effect immediately.
I lost my key — what do I do?
For Claude and OpenAI, the key is shown only once. If you lose it, delete it from the provider dashboard and create a new one — it takes 30 seconds. For Gemini, you can view and copy your key again from AI Studio any time.
Is my API key stored on GoApus servers?
No. Your API key is stored locally on your computer inside GoApus Pro. It never leaves your device or passes through our servers. All AI requests go directly from your computer to the AI provider.
